Explaining his motives for publication, is respectfully recommended to the consideration of the lovers of the arts in general.
WITH a wish to acquire a knowledge of nature in all its beauty, grandeur, and characteristic variety, I left London in the year 1800, and settled myself in Ambleside: - I had on several prior occasions visited the Lakes, and considered Ambleside as affording the easiest facilities to the most interesting features of the country.
