Over the main door are a coat of arms, Cliburn quartering Kirkbride, and inscription:-
"[Rychard Cleburn thus they me cawl Wch in my tyme hath bealded ys hall, the yeare of owre lorde God who lyst for to neam, 1567. R. D. Mayson]"
A pele tower was probably built late 14th century by Robert de Cliburn, the extension by Richard made 1567.
