page 140:-  "On the margin of the Carboniferous Limestone, at Ruthwaite, near Ireby, Cumberland, a very fine deposit of sulphate of barytes, of excellent quality, and measuring in some places from eight to nine feet in width, was opened up about twenty-five years ago; but being at the bottom of the valley, and requiring a good capital for the necessary sinking operations, it has not yet been fully developed."
