"Boundary stone/gatepost. Early C19. Painted squared stone post with shaped top, inscribed W.A.B.C. (C has been made into an O) and S.E.H, separated by central line. Lettering picked out in black is thought to be Wigton Above and Below the Cross; South End Hamlet. See T.W. Carrick, History of Wigton, 1949, p56."

hearsay:-
It is suggested that WABC stands for Wigton Above and Below Cross. The suggestion of survey ends here for SEH is not so credible, South East Highmore is an alternative idea.
The building was a toll keeper's house.
