hearsay:-
A local rhyme comments:-
"Blawith poor people,
An auld church and a new steeple,
As poor as hell,
They had to sell
A bit of fell
To buy a bell,
Blawith poor people.
"
The land sold was Blea Brows raising money for one of the two bells in the 18th century turret of the chapel.
The bell was first used in the old church, relocated here.
