Navelin Stone, Cleator Moor
Navelin Stone
Avellan Stane
civil parish:-   Cleator Moor (formerly Cumberland)
county:-   Cumbria
locality type:-   boundary stone
locality type:-   township boundary mark
1Km square:-   NY0312 (guess)
10Km square:-   NY01

hearsay:-
This is/was on the boundary of Cleator and Brisco townships.
Called the Avellan Stane in a charter of 1210, along with another boundary marker, the Stainbrennan, which is now lost. These are named after two individuals, Avenel and Brendan, who probably lived in the 12th century.
(I don't know where this is, but I would investigate the 'boulder' marked on OS maps at NY0352125, on Longbarrow Moss.)
