Long established by 1821,in that year the Sporting Magazine had:-
"[Kendal Races are fixed for 7th, 8th, 9th August. Lord Lowther and Thos, Upton, Esq., Stewards. A new course is now making out on Fisher's Plain, an elevated situation at a short distance from the town, admirably adapted for the purpose.]"
There was a gold Cup race won by Miss Syntax owned by Lord Queensberry. Miss Syntax was beaten the same day in the Town Purse for ~50.
The last meeting was in 1882.
