Gentleman's Magazine 1823 part 2 p.324  "KABER, in the parish of Kirkby Stephen, founded by Thomas Waller, about the year 1680, and endowed by him with 133l. And in 1727 Miles Munkhouse gave 5l.; and in 1744 George Petty of Kalver gave 20l. for the benefit of this School."
