"Circa 1683. 2 storeys. Pebble-dashed over stone rubble, slate roof. Gabled porch in front, and 16-paned sash windows on each floor at different levels. Wing at right angles once was stables and coachmen's rooms, with doors below and sash windows above. Smithy Brow facade has 5 sash windows on ground floor and 7 above (12-paned). The Golden Rule Hotel, The Old House North View and Nos 1 to 3 (consec) form a group with North Syke, North Road, Nos 1 to 4 (consec).Kirkstone Foot Cottage, Cottage adjoining and Springwell Cottage, Tom Fold and The Haven, The Green."
