Fletcher Christian was born at Moorland Close, Dean, SW of
Cockermouth, 25 September 1764. He was a pupil at
Cockermouth Free Grammar School.
Fletcher Christian joined HMS Britannia under the command of Lieutenant William Bligh, 1786. When Captain Bligh was posted to HMS Bounty, Fletcher Christian joined him as master's mate. Fletcher Christian was the leader of the mutiny on the Bounty in the Pacific, 28 April 1789. | |
