Longsleddale is the "Greendale" of the Postman Pat books; Pat was created by John Cunliffe when he was a teacher at Castle Green School, Kendal. Kendal Museum has a Pat display and information. Of course like any good rural postman Pat collects people's letters when he delivers to their houses, so perhaps this box doesn't get much use.
