"[Early in 1748 the Tenor Bell being burst it was decided to have it recast and it was sent by sea from Milnthorpe to Bristol or Chepstow and thence conveyed to Gloucester where it was originally cast. On 28th November it was put on board a vessel bound from Liverpool to Milnthorpe ...]"

There was a bell here in 1663. A 'middle bell' was cast by William Whitwell, at Kendal, 1684. The 'great bell' was recast by Abel Rudhall, Gloucester, 1748. The 1663 and 1684 bells were recast by John Taylor and Co, Loughborough, 1880. Three new bells, the 'Jubilee Bells' were cast by Mears and Stainbank, Whitechapel, London, 1889.

Bell 2 inscribed:-
"['Deum Coele Serva' / Given by G. W. Cole, Vicar, 1889.]"
