an exquisite view of the Borrowdale mountains and the lake
of Derwent.
The walk to Broom Hill and Stable Hills, is "singularly
interesting" though less so than many other places which he
descibes. - The Garden heads, Water end, and Crosthwaite
church, are all rich in fine views; as well as a great
variety of other little walks which he recommends in the
immediate neighbourhood of Keswick.
Thus we have attempted to give an imperfect sketch of the
many beauties which he so amply describes round the
celebrated vale of Keswick, The longer excursions to the
numerous beauties which are to be found in the deeper
recesses of other mountains are left to a future
opportunity. We reluctantly forbear more fully to avail
ourselves of the Author's kind permission to enrich our
pages with the result of his long and arduous researches. In
another number we shall resume this pleasing subject, and
accompany our agreeable companion to the many grand and
sublime scenes which yet remain among the wilder features of
the Cumberland Hills.
