The short length of stone wall at the north west corner of the bank barn is new, built by a Fishwick. The gateway, two slate pillars with holes and wood cross bars, used really to be a gate from the garden into the byway beyond. The line of wall presumably continued down to the barn with the barn's top door accessible from the byway, which makes much better sense than the present arrangement.
